the Bookworm
That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.
— F. Scott Fitzgerald
In 2023, I had a goal of reading 24 books in the year. There was no precedent or inclination for this other than getting back into a habit that wasn't sitting behind a screen for hours on end after leaving work, in which I look at a screen all day (yes, I realize the irony of developing a blog from behind a screen).
I felt motivated and was ready to get through a stellar and curated "to be read" list and even purchased a gross number of new and auto-recommended books from indie bookstores and Amazon, and was so geared up for this fresh and shiny stack of books that I never got around to making a dent in the list. I read 6.
When presented with a new year to conquer that same goal, I can safely say that I am significantly closer to reaching my goal than last year - I even finished that stack of books and curated a new list.
The Bookworm will include basic book reviews, recommendations, and my ongoing "to be read" list that will be shared. This will also be a place for commentary on film and television adaptations of books and a place dedicated to literary writing and prompts. All in all, it is a place for bookworms, writers, and library lovers all around, per Chance.
